WHAT ARE LADYFESTS?
For an archive of all the Ladyfests that have happened and will soon happen, check out: www.ladyfest.org
Ladyfests are d.i.y. festivals organised by women to showacase female talents, speak out against sexism, racism and homophobia, and to encourage women and girls to become active creators of their own cultures and politics. Ladyfests incorporate workshops and discussions with bands, films, spoken word, art, diy, dancing and activism. Although organised mostly by women, Ladyfests are open forums for all genders to participate.
WHY THE FILM ARCHIVE/DISTRO?
This archive will act as a centralised resource for future UK Ladyfests. The idea is to create a network to support women and feminist film-makers, publicise the work, and help support local Ladyfests and other activist events. Fingerbang will continue to showcase student and underground d.i.y. films alongside more established award winning work, and seek to create a forum in which skill-sharing and networking can be facillitated. Hopefully this distro will expand so as to include a range of international work.
INTERESTED IN SUBMITTING A FILM?
This resource exists through the generousity of film-makers. In return for a donated copy of your film we'll organise public screenings, publicise the films, conduct press interviews, advertise if the film is for sale, and generally get your work out and about.
